Spring Tours - Please Note Location Change
At Rounds Ranch, we offer spring tours from mid May until the end of June that are designed to meet curriculum requirements for J/K - Gr. 5. Specialized leadership and team building programs are also available for grades 6-8 and for highschools. All tours are "hands-on" and interactive and are held at the Rounds Ranch location: 1922 Cty Rd. 92, 4km west of Elmvale on the north side of the road.
- Farm Animal Tour - In the spring time at Rounds Ranch we celebrate 'new life' on the farm with babies being born each week. The children will have an opportunity to hold, pet and feed baby bunnies, chicks, goats and sheep. They will also visit ponies, llamas, 'Glory' our donkey as well as observe and discover the basics of hatching chicks. Special characteristics of each animal will be discussed as they visit each pen in smaller groups with a parent helper. A larger group discussion about the foods eaten every day, the ways in which humans are dependant upon plants and animals as well as bottle feeding a lamb or goat enhance the tour's learning components and bring on lots of smiles! This is a one hour guided tour designed to meet curriculum requirements for JK to Grade 2 and includes one additional hour in our western playground.
- Plant Life Tour - Centered around the life-cycle of corn, this tour offers children opportunities to understand the food chain, be part of an interactive skit that incorporates farm machinery used in the planting, nurturing and harvesting of corn. They will also have an opportunity to take a wagon ride to the corn field to help plant the cornfield maze.
- The World BelowUs - SOILS and Composting Tour - Designed for grades 3-5, this tour offers an opportunity for investigative style learning, focusing on the amazing properties and importance of soil in the cycle of life. An additional unit on composting and recycling is available.
- Opportunities for Grades 6-8 - In both the spring and fall, Rounds Ranch offers two choices for this age group. "Adventures in Leadership" offers half and full day programs to meet each teacher's desired outcomes with a focus on character development and team building. This is a memorable 'end of the year' or 'kick off to a new year' opportunity.
